June 28, 2010-Skunk Babies!-Fox Pups

This pup was sniffing at something. He sure is a chubby little rascal.

These two pups were running around towards evening with their parents. I still have not seen all four together again. Hope the other two are still alive and well. They are probably off hunting in the woods.

And I was surprised last evening to see this stinky skunk come down with her four children. I have been getting irritated by her lately because she is down so early and is always out there in the mornings too. Now I know why. She has to have more food for all those kids. She was always spraying at the least little thing too. Last night she didn't. It was cute seeing the young ones. I wonder how many more of these skunks have babies and will bring them? Yikes! I have way too many skunks around here. I'm not sure if the foxes eat young skunks or not but I'm thinking at this age they don't.

This is another adult one that is out there each night. She's got her paw up on the side of the building begging me for a nut.

June 27th-2010-Skunks-Chipmunks-Foxes

I love how the chipmunk is clinging to the tree trunk like that. My bird, Ricky, is watching the fox outside. And I spotted a beautiful Baltimore Oriole but couldn't get a clear shot at it. You can just make out the orange color in the leaves where I circled it. I'm hoping to see it again to get a good photo. First one I've seen in a few years around here.

I finally have confirmed that this is a male fox.

The female cardinal was looking for some nuts on top of the rock wall and a young chipmunk is close by.

These are three different chipmunks.

Skunks outside my window and drinking some water.

June 25, 2010 Collages-Saw One Fox Pup!-Video

The Raccoon up against my window begging for nuts at 3 am. The skunk and a fox and one of the pups were wandering around at the same time. You can see one of the pups back by the woods.

This pup must be the bravest one. He is the only one that has come down this close all alone. he was so cute to talk to.

One of many voles that live in the rock wall.

Collages From June 22nd And 23rd

A squirrel and a chipmunk cooling off and that little skunk getting a drink of water and looking up at me as I was talking to it.

These are the fox mates. I'm beginning to think I have their sexes mixed up and the elusive one that never comes down too close is the mother and the one that is always outside my window is the father. Makes more sense that the mother would stay closer to the pups and the father is the one that goes hunting for food more often. I could never really get a good look at their bellies so I never knew.

These skunks were out in the pouring rain. After a while they finally ran back to the woods because they were getting soaked.

Darn Raccoon! June 21, 2010

This was the moon on the 19th.

He always wakes me up in the wee hours of the morning. Last night it was 2 am. He and his skunk friend were out there. The raccoon was right up on my window. When I shine the flashlight at him, he gets down and waits for me to give him some nuts. Partners in crime, these two. Ha! The skunk looks like that because he got scared for a second when I opened the window. He never sprays though. He's a friendly one.

June 19th And 20th Wildlife-Woodchuck Video

The woodchuck eating some clover along the way home.

Both female foxes were out there. The younger one was waiting for the older one to finish eating. I think maybe the younger one might be the other one's offspring from a few years ago. They tolerate each other well. The younger one is the mother of the four pups I saw last week. For some reason they are not coming out of the woods any more.

The Chipmunks sometimes climb the trees for safety. This one was waiting on a branch watching for the foxes to leave. The other one was sort of taking a nap. And the next one was just sitting there frozen as he waited for danger to pass.

The younger squirrels.

The Woodchuck. Don't you just love that look on her face as she's looking at me?? Ha! Ha! What a character.

Young Squirrels and a Chipmunk that has a broken leg. He does well walking and running with it. But I still feel sorry for him.

Collages-June 16th-17th-2010

Catching up on my posts. Haven't seen the pups around. I've heard them though. One day I heard some yelping in the woods like one was hurt. Then the other night one went yelping through here. I think a skunk sprayed it. Not sure though. I sure hope none of them has gotten hurt. The mother isn't down as much for some reason. The father is wandering around more than usual. I just hope their little family is okay.

June 13th Collages-Fox Pups

The mom and just one pup were sitting out there at first. The pup was running around and climbing the tree. I have the vidoes on Youtube.

All the pups were exploring their world but started heading too far down towards the front of the building so I whistled a them and they came running back closer to their mom. She had stayed up in back.

Mom is getting pooped out, watching her pups all the time. It's daytime and I'm sure she'd rather be sleeping. I see her yawning a lot.

They sure love climbing those trees. All of them were doing it. One climbed quite high. They can either climb down backwards or turn around and climb down head first. Sometimes I think they will hurt themselves because they jump down from a high point at times. But they know what they're doing..Ha! Ha! I hope. I don't ever want to see another injured one.

Here's all four of the pups.

The mom. She does tell them to stay in the woods when she comes down to eat.

A squirrel on the tree trunk and a little one eating nuts. A female Cardinal.

I don't know why this BlueJay was all wet. looks like it took a bath somewhere. He was really soaked.
