January 1, 2010-Hawk And Snowy Night

This hawk has been hanging around quite regularly lately. I didn't hardly see a bird today and the squirrels stayed pretty much up in the trees. It must be because of the hawk. It was very odd though not to see the Cardinals just before dark as usual. Not a bird in sight. I couldn't see the hawk anywhere at that time but he must have been beyond my view at that time. I like watching him also. It was snowing after dark tonight. I like the snowflakes in the air.

I wonder where all these animals sleep in the night. They may be on the same trees. You have never seen them just because of the darkness.

I guess hawks always mean that the other animals are on their guard. I only saw two hawks in 2009. I hope I get to see more this year.

I have searched the trees in my photos when I take them at night and have never seen any critters in these close ones. The Doves and birds seem to go somewhere else at night. maybe deep into the woods where it might be warmer. I always wonder if the birds have nests to get into or holes in trees. but it seems they are always right out in the weather, trying to sleep on a branch. Poor things.
The Hawk seems to be around more when it is snowing. Because he can't see from higher above. Hope you get to see more Ratty. They are beautiful birds.

Nice shots of the hawk.
We don't see a lot of them, so when I spot one, I get all excited trying to photograph them!
