August 7th and 8th 2010

This is the Cowbird juvenile that the male Cardinal is feeding.

I hate to see these poor Blue Jays like this every summer. But from what I've read, their feathers will grow back when it gets colder. Some kind of mite is doing this. Seems it only affects their head feathers.

Poor blue jay. I feel a little bad about how cowbirds trick other birds into caring for their young. But it's not the young one's fault. I smiled a little when I saw that picture.

I had a Cardinal, Mockingbird, and Bluejay infected with those mites. They were so weird looking.

More birds and critters to come before the winter.

Those Blue Jays do look pitiful, but all your other animals look very healthy.
