January 1st-15th Photos-2013

I can't seen to get back here as often as I would like to. But here's some photos I've taken in the past two weeks. We had a lot of snow at the beginning of the new year and then we had a week of mild weather, which they call the January Thaw. Today it's colder and it snowed a couple inches. Back to winter again.

Isn't he cute? I love this squirrel. I hope to see a baby black one this spring.

This female squirrel is pregnant I think. She is using this nest. See pic below to see what happened.
This bird showed up. The only one. It took me  awhile to find what kind it was. I found out it is a Varied Thrush from the Northwest part of the country. Males will sometimes take off by itself but go back to CA for breeding season. He sure is a beauty! He was here till the 9th of January. We had bad winds that night and I haven't seen him since.

 One of the Does.
 Pileated Woodpecker.

Tilly, the young Doe. Her twin sister and mom has not been seen since the last day of hunting season, so I am presuming they got killed.

Tilly. She comes almost every day and when she sees me at the window, she gets all excited and wags her tail.

What a beautiful bird! The Varied Thrush. Male
 Cardinals

The black squirrel. He's been a busy boy, building nest.
The Red squirrels have been here for just about a year now. I am so glad they are thriving.
 Tilly and a squirrel.
This is the black squirrel's nest.
Here's what happened to the pregnant gray squirrel's nest. The wind blew it away during the night. She is okay and the next morning was checking it out. She can't live there any more. Not sure where she's living now. I think they do have other nests ready to move to.
Tilly was out on this night with two other adult Does.

Hi Ginny, What a lovely round up of your photos. Well done on seeing the Varied Thrush, what a stunning bird it is, really beautiful!! What a shame about Tilly's family :-( I hope when you post again you will say you have seen them.

I hope all is well with you Ginny. I realised you hadn't shown on my sidebar for a while and eventually found you at the very bottom where it said your last post was 12 months ago which made no sense at all. I clicked on it and it took me to a site with your name but it was something really weird all about tattoos!! Somehow the link had become corrupted! Anyway, I deleted it and went to put you on again only to find I'd somehow deleted my entire blog roll :-( It took me hours to put it back together again!!!

Thank you LaBonBon and Jan!
I'm still here Jan and doing okay. Seems I just never get back here as often as I used to. I'm busy on Facebook, getting old history photos all the time, for our local towns. I'm still taking pictures every day of my little critters. I have so many but will only add a few to here now and then. Or a lot sometimes..Ha! I used to keep up every day. But I'm glad I can still do things. I'm feeling good. The tumor is getting larger but I'm not in pain or anything. I don't go back to any doctors. This thing will play out the way it's supposed to. I've been fortunate so far. Never expected to be living this long.
We are having real cold weather at times and snow off and on. I don't go out in it anyway so it could snow a foot and I'd love it.. I gave up my car. Was getting too costly to fix all the time and I was having a hard time getting up out of it. I only drove it about 300 miles a year! No sense in keeping it. My daughter has been helping to get groceries and others. I will go with my sisters to get my groceries when the weather is good. Hope all is well with you Jan. Take care.

So many beautiful bird photos! We just don't have them around here.
I must have missed some of your health issues and I'm sorry about that. I'm going to have to read further... Take care Ginny!

Ginny! You have worked hard for first 15 days on January 2013. You took some very rear photograph on those days. All animals and birds are so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. Lopbandet
