February 10, 2012-Large Hawk In Tree

The hawk way up in the tree. No wonder there are no animals around. It must be living close by because every day it's very quiet outside my windows.

The back woods. See how we have no snow at all around here? What a weird winter so far.

I'm glad this hawk turned around so I could see the front. It flew to another tree top and he had a very large wing span so I know it was an adult.

I love seeing hawks. There are a lot of them around here, but they don't usually come into town. One day I had two of them come around, so I was lucky enough to get pictures of one.

We are having a weird year too. We get little Kestrels at our feeder and it's amazing how quickly 50 or so sparrows can disappear.

They are impressive birds but it is never pleasant to see them hunting their lunch in our gardens. Every time things go quiet here I know there is one around.
