May 14, 2010-Fox Pair

A hawk flying high and a pretty Butterfly.

This is a young squirrel that I had just taken photos of but a couple minutes later got taken by one of the foxes. He just wasn't fast and not paying attention to the adult squirrel's warnings. The foxes have to eat too. I saw the fox carrying it but couldn't get my camera fast enough. It's a good thing I guess. Too sad anyway. I'm glad I didn't have time to get attached to that little one.

This is one of the fox pairs that come around. Today they happened to be together for a few minutes.

This is another one of the foxes. I am trying to keep track of them but it's hard. They look so much alike. But I do look at their chest area and face. Some have slightly different markings. Such pretty animals.

The foxes sure are coming down a lot during the day now. That means the pups are getting bigger and the parents are trying to keep them all happy. Last year I didn't see the pups till July 4th but I think I will be seeing them earlier this year. At least I hope so.
I tried to get some pictures of the Goldfinch out front of the building but the building is so bright that it ruins the photos. I didn't feel well enough today to go out there again. Saw some Turkey hawks flying around but couldn't get any good shots of them.
Got the Crow up in the tree and also saw a Robin on the neighbor's lawn.

Just More Critters And Birds-Heard A Baby Fox Bark!

This fox listens very intently and watches up the hill where the young ones are. I'm sure they will be bringing them out soon.

You all must get bored with my same old pictures all the time..Ha! Ha! But since I can only see them from my window I don't get much different scenery. I never get bored with watching them though.
Last night around 9 pm I heard barking from the neighborhood dogs. So I opened my window to listen. The dogs are tied up in their yards thank heavens but once in a while one will get loose and run around this building. I always worry about that because foxes get killed by dogs a lot according to what I've read. Anyway, as I was listening I heard the distinct rough bark of a young pup way up in the woods. So I know there are babies up there for sure now and can't wait to see them.
Here's some photos from the 10th. I am only able to upload one picture at a time. Yesterday I could upload more. I know others have been having problems too lately. I thought it was because of the new format or "Blogger In Draft" that I was using for a while so I stopped it and went back to the original but now I see there are still problems. At least if I do one at a time it works.

May 9th Collages

Two of the foxes come down regularly now and this one came down early this morning so I think it's getting closer to the time when they will be bringing the pups out. I can't wait!

The Tufted Titmouse is so cute.

Too many Starlings around now. They eat up all the nuts as soon as I throw them out. I love watching the Cardinal pair also. Even though I don't catch the female too often. The little black-Capped Chickadees are out here a lot and love to eat off that seed bell that is hanging on my window. I love there little sounds.

A New Critter!!

I just happened to look out my bedroom window last night and saw what I thought was the fox. But when I shined the flashlight on him he seemed to be fatter and his ears looked small. His back was to me at that time. His fur was a light brown. So I got my camera and made a noise so he'd move and that is when I realized it was a Raccoon!! I haven't seen a Raccoon out here in years. I opened the window and he didn't run too far so I got these pictures. He even seemed to pose for me. I think he is a handsome fella. I heard skunks squeeling when I opened the window and saw one chasing another off in the distance. One skunk was right next to the Raccoon when I first shined the light on them. Guess nothing bothers with the skunks except for they themselves. They seem to get mad at each other a lot and when they do it stinks around here. I was reading about skunks and it says that the females get mad at the males sometimes if they try to get near them and will spray at them.
