March 16. 2011-Sunrise-Squirrels

Sunrise through the back woods and a squirrel.

Different squirrels enjoying the sunny day yesterday.

Lots of fat mother squirrels right now. They haven't had their babies yet I guess.

This mother sits by that nest every night and then just before dark she comes down and goes off in different directions. but tonight I watched her as she went inside of it. I think she's getting ready to have her babies.

These were taken on the 15th. Today, the 16th it is cloudy and rainy. It got to 40 degrees today and will get up to 50 or better tomorrow with some sun! I think Spring is coming!! I sure hope so.

March 15, 2011-Chipmunk and Skunk

Here's one of the little chipmunks. He is so cute and just sat there so I could take his picture.

A big fat female squirrel. She doesn't look as if she's feeding any babies. That other squirrel sits up by that nest but I don't think there's anything in it. I was watching the past few nights and that squirrel always ends up going down the tree and way over to another area just before dark. So maybe nothing is using that nest unless the babies died or something.

This is the first skunk I've seen all winter although I have smelled one now and then. He was a little leery of me though and ran off after I took these pictures.
We are having a beautiful day here today. The sun is shining and it's in the 40's.
( Tuesday, 15th)

Going to get in the 50's by Friday!! But rain tomorrow.

Deer And Chipmunks-March 11, 2011

This injured deer seems to be okay despite his injury.

This is another deer. He looks a bit thin and has bloodshot eyes a bit. He comes around once in a while and is alone also.

This squirrel was watching the deer very close. He stood up like that for a long time..

I saw two chipmunks out there today but couldn't get a photo of them together. All of them will soon be coming.

The chipmunk was sitting up on top of the wall. The squirrel was looking at him. It was another rainy day but later in the afternoon it fried out a bit. The snow is melting fast.

March 10, 2011-The Lone Chipmunk

This chipmunk has been coming out since February 14th. That was the day I first saw him anyway. Now it's an everyday thing to see him out there, even in the deep snow. I'm glad he has the safety of that rock wall. I'd be sad if the hawk swooped down and got him. he seems to be the only one at this time.

March 8, 2011-Was A Nice Sunny Day

Snow on top of the pine trees and on top of the squirrel's nest. But it's melting fast in that bright sun.

View up the alley in the early morning sunrise through the woods. See the squirrel peeking around the corner?

Squirrels on top of the rock wall. I can't see much from my window with all that snow up there but it's still pretty when the sun shines.

I could see where the deer walked down over that lower part of the rock wall to get down into the area below my living room window. He better be careful. I worry so much about him getting a hoof caught in that fencing. I could see where he stuck his nose on the snow too.

The squirrels were enjoying the sunny day also.

The squirrels have their little path made up there where they come through. They play a lot when it's like this.

The BlueJays were all out and there's a Starling coming in for a landing.

A bunch of Starlings sitting in the top of the trees and one is near the squirrel's nest. Maybe he hears the squirrels inside.

This squirrel was watching and listening to something up in the woods.

The snow looks pretty on the branches and a BlueJay is flying through them.

Bird tracks and the deer tracks going back down and close to the building but the squirrels were using that same path also later.

This is a mother squirrel.

I stuck this photo of the cardinal in with all the Juncos to give this collage some color..Ha!

I think this was a Cooper's Hawk flying around over the squirrel's nest tree.

Late evening squirrel. The deer were up on the top and he got scared to go up over it. Eventually he ran home the other way.

The Doe and her children. One seems to be giving her a kiss before he goes running off. I see them do that often before they take off to play.
